a sample of slides that i developed, designed, and presented at “rec u: JEDI inclusion at summer camp (train the trainer model)” for the california parks and recreation society in may 2022. this was a three-hour training session designed for upper-level camp management to develop an inclusive framework for their organization and use that foundation to train their summer staff to hone their DEI skills to create a safe space for all campers to feel welcome. this session included information on how to help campers bring their whole selves to camps through adapting a culturally responsive framework, how to celebrate and facilitate racial and ethnic diversity at camp, and tools for dealing with microaggressions at camp.

a sample of slides that i developed, designed, and presented at “rec u: building a gender-inclusive space at summer camp (train the trainer model)” for the california parks and recreation society in april 2022. this was a one-hour training session designed to help upper-level camp management develop a more inclusive framework for their organization and use that foundation to train their summer staff to create a safer space for LGBTQ+ campers to feel welcome to explore their identities. this session included information on how language and internal biases shape the way we develop our gender-inclusive policies, as well as how to better support gender-diverse campers at an organizational, policy, and staff level.
